Heating System
Carrigweir homes utilise NIBE's revolutionary Exhaust Air Heat Pump System, designed to facilitate heat recovery, maximise the circulation of clean, hygienic air and maintain a consistent comfortable temperature throughout the house. The air temperature in bathrooms and kitchens is always a few degrees hotter than elsewhere in a house. The building is heated by extracting air from these rooms through a small ceiling vent. This air is then used to heat the hot water in the storage tank which then, in turn, heats the radiators in the house. This is a tried and tested Scandinavian design, which:
- Provides constant hot water
The exhaust air heat pump facilitates heat recovery and supplies the energy from exhaust air for the domestic hot water and central heating. - Maximises heat efficiency
Controlled ventilation with heat recovery reuses the energy from the exhaust air. Not only that, the additional heat generated internally from lighting, people and domestic appliances is also utilised through heat recovery. - Saves Money
Energy recovery generates massive savings by having no heating bills - studies have shown that running costs can be reduced by up to 70% per annum. - Reduces Carbon Dioxide Emissions - No fossil fuels or electricity needed, so the environment benefits from reduced emissions.
- Ensures clean hygienic air supply - one of the purposes of the NIBE Exhaust Air Heat Pump System is to control temperature and dampness, while ensuring that the quality of the inside air is totally hygienic.

Insulation & Build
Carrigweir homes have been built with steel frames, which are thermally efficient and adaptable to future changes in building regulations. The external perimeter wall panels incorporate Kingspan's TW55 insulation, generating a U-value of 0.25W/m2.oK (the measure of the rate of heat loss through a material - a low value means excellent heat retention).
